GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):

The purpose of this position is to instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the students shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, sportsmanship and service to others.

  • Ability to organize and supervise all levels of a sport program
  • Commitment to professional growth
  • Ability to accept responsibilities outside the team as they relate to the school and community
  • Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid MA Driver’s License
  • Previous successful coaching experience preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):


Complies with school and MIAA policies and regulations

Complies with school and District/League policies and regulations

Works cooperatively with the school staff

Relates positively to parents and other community representatives

Completes required records and reports with promptness and accuracy

Assumes responsibility for the care of equipment and facilities

Assumes responsibility for a safe environment for student-athletes

Models positive behaviors, especially with regard to sportsmanship and the alcohol, tobacco and drug rules

Coordinates staff organization 

May delegates staff assignments to assistant coaches

Develops and organizes practice program

May evaluates assistant coaches and playing personnel

Plans and develops game responsibilities

May conduct and analyzes scouting reports

Assists student-athletes in college advancement

Maintains and inventories all equipment and supplies

•  Other duties as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Work Environment:  

Work is generally performed in a school environment outside of the school day.


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the coach is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear.  The coach is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel.  The coach is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
