Job Title: Technology Support Specialist

 

Overview:
The Technology Support Specialist collaborates with the Technology Systems Administrator to deliver support and technology services for the Public Schools. This role involves desktop maintenance, repairs, and basic troubleshooting of the building network. Additionally, the Technology Support Specialist promotes the use of technology as a learning tool by equipping school staff with the necessary skills to integrate it into their teaching plans. The role also involves maintaining technology equipment and interacting comfortably with all staff members.

 

Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree
- Relevant and applicable experience
- Ability to handle a variety of complex issues
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Effective time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in using technology effectively

 

Essential Job Functions:
- Provide technical support for the school buildings
- Maintain and organize equipment and software
- Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on equipment
- Support staff and students with technology-related needs
- Keep an inventory and track the location of hardware and software
- Perform periodic maintenance on equipment
- Clean lab computers and carts periodically
- Arrange for repairs when necessary
- Maintain network resources
- Oversee technology supplies
- Attend technology meetings and training sessions as needed
- Set up equipment not covered by outside vendors
- Install software
- Become familiar with software used by staff
- Support cutting-edge technologies
- Participate in budgeting, planning, and purchasing for technology
- Participate in the district-wide technology team under the direction of the Director of Technology
- Perform other duties as assigned

 

Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in a school environment during the school day, with occasional after-school meetings.

 

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Sufficient mobility is required to navigate within a large school building, and occasional ladder climbing may be necessary.
