GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):
|
The Instructional Technology Specialist will support teachers in designing, implementing and
assessing student-based technology units which promote 21st-century skills and are aligned with
curricula and state standards. The position provides support through planning,
modeling, co-teaching, training, and data analysis across all content areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
|
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- DESE teaching license
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of how to design and implement technology enhanced learning experiences addressing content standards and Digital Literacy Computer Science standards.
- Classroom teaching experience
- Effective time management, organizational skills, and prioritization of work to meet the needs of the users.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):
|
Coach Effective Use of Instructional Technology
- Model best practices in technology integration.
- Collaborate with teachers in composing effective technology-infused, content-based lessons, and support teachers as they implement the lessons in their classrooms. This collaboration may include opportunities to co-teach.
- Engages in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in technology integration and current and emerging technologies necessary to effectively implement the standards.
- Serve as a liaison between teachers and school/district technology initiatives by providing support for school-based implementation.
- Organize and facilitate professional development opportunities that focus on the effective use of technology to improve teaching and learning
- Provide instructional staff with the essential support needed to complete technology-based instructional management and productivity functions.
- Support content and Digital Literacy Computer Science standards through collaboration, coaching, and lesson and unit planning to enhance teaching and learning.
- Create learning resources and tutorials for students and teachers to support technology integration
- Assist in the development of technology-infused collaborative projects that assist students in building understanding and problem solving
Other Duties
- Collaborates with technical staff to support, manage, and optimize the use of instructional software and network resources to support quality teaching and learning.
- Troubleshoots basic software, hardware, and connectivity problems common in digital learning environments.
- Consult with the school principals on School Improvement Plan goals and other topics that support and facilitate the implementation of the District strategic plan.
- Completes any other related duties and responsibilities that may be needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
