GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):

The Technology Systems Administrator performs client, server and network maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting. The Technology Systems Administrator is an advocate for technology and promotes its use as a learning tool by providing support for the school community. The Technology Systems Administrator advances technological innovations while maintaining the school’s equipment and must be comfortable interacting with all school faculty and staff.


The Technology Systems Administrator assists in coordinating the technology solutions in Northborough and in ensuring that the infrastructure and configurations and solutions follow district-wide standards. These responsibilities will require travel among all school buildings in Northborough.

  • Associate’s Degree 
  • Three years of relevant and applicable experience
  • Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
  • Solid record or problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use technology effectively



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):


  •  Maintain and support Northborough Public Schools network, server, physical and cybersecurity infrastructure, including but not limited to Windows Active Directory (AD), HP/Aruba switching, Extreme wireless, Mitel VoIP system, and Avigilon ACC/ACM.
  • Works with the District Technology Manager and Director of IT to utilize best practices to comply with district policies on anti-ransomware and disaster recovery.
  • Maintains district inventory of hardware and software.
  • Provides general support for classroom computing devices, multimedia projectors, Chromebooks, iPads, Apple TV’s, Chromecasts, Document cameras, Printers, etc., by troubleshooting issues, and helping users with basic instructions on the use of these devices. 
  • Provides school support for iPad and Chromebook device management, using centralized management software.
  • Provides school support for managing computer labs and carts by making sure school devices are in working order and software is up to date.
  • Provides technical support to all school users in accessing instructional software, including but not limited to G-Suite, Canvas, etc
  • Monitor district-wide IT ticket system and addresses staff-related questions. 
  • Collaborate on budgeting, planning, and purchasing of technology
  • Attends technology professional development/training when necessary
  • Other duties as needed 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Work Environment:  

Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings or hours. 

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear.  The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel.  The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.  May need to climb ladders on occasion.
